Where does the light harness switch get its power I don’t have power to the light harness spider switch.
I have power to the fuse on the starter, the starter turns over, I have power to both terminals on the terminal box, and when I turn the key on I get power on the minus side of the coil. |
Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power The power to the Head Light Switch is taken from the screw on the CutOut. The Yellow/Black wire goes to the fuse. The other wire (?color) is power for lights.

Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power 1 Attachment(s)
If you have 6V positive ground and wired as original you should have
power all the time at the coil minus terminal. |
Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power Thanks Katy. That's real handy.

Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power The ignition switch is not connected to modern cars. It has no relation to battery plus or minus! It sits between the break contact and the ignition coil!
The power supply of the light switch comes, as already written, directly from the charging cable connection of the Alternator/Generator. Greetings from Berlin Andy Written with Google Translator. |
Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power Yes I have a 6 V positive ground.
Weird, I drove the car in the garage, went to start it the next day and this is what happened. No power to the light switch. Bob, the only time I have power to the minus side of the coil is when I put the key on. I have a per Tronics electronica ignition not sure if that has anything to do with anything. |
Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power Heard different stories on that ignition-positive and negative- I like the original set up as above should have voltage both sides of coil key off.

Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power If you have electronic ignition, the ignition circuit is wired completely different! Call First Street Ignition in OK. They can help you out. If you have Les Andrews's green book it shows how to wire the electronic ignition. It's different for 6V and !2V.

Re: Where does the light harness switch get its power I found the problem, unbelievable.
Years ago I installed a separate mini blade fuse at the generator for the horn and headlight wiring. I checked the fuse to see if it was bad, then I put back the fuse were it belongs. BUT when i replaced it for whatever reason 1 of the 2 blades did not go were it belongs. It went to the side of the female slot, not in it. This fuse was pulled twice and it did the same thing. The 3rd time I realized what was happening, I bent the blade, both went in and now I have power to the light switch. |
