Re: Headers Wow! Talk about a nebulous question!
Please provide photos and more info. Fenton headers would not have a Ford part number. Scroll down to 1946 in this chart. http://www.vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/f...el_IDchart.htm |
Re: Headers I have heard rumors of Fenton headers with "Ford part numbers" before. I would believe they are a hoax.
Does anyone else remember the supercharged 1948 1/2 ton with a lot of accessories that some dude was trying to pass off as an "Experimental Ford prototype" about 5 years ago? It turned out to be totally bogus, but some people sure were excited it about it for a while. Probably in the same category. |
Re: Headers Seem to recall that there may have been Ford supplied dual exhaust headers provided on police car applications.
|
Re: Headers I believe it was just a special rear outlet left side manifold, not headers. Someone (Carpenter?) had a bunch they sold.

Re: Headers 4 Attachment(s)
"Original" Fenton headers DO have ford part numbers on them "FORD 7101 R.H. & L.H."
I have 3 sets of them , will take pics later & post All 3 sets have numbers. Also notice the lower center bolt on left side. Originals take a long bolt. Repops do not. |
Re: Headers Opps, guess I was wrong. Thanks for the correction.

Re: Headers Those are "Ford" part numbers, not "Ford part numbers".
|
Re: Headers Seriously doubt that the 7101 number is a Ford number.
Ford group number 7101 is for transmission gears and components. If it were a Ford number it would be group 9430. The 7101 number is most likely a Fenton number. Also the 'FORD' marking would most likely be in Ford script. |
Re: Headers C69A engine is a post war Canadian offering. Casting has real thick cylinder walls; a good candidate for big bore flatties...The deck has a slightly different layout coolant hole wise, than regular C59A's. Still takes center outlet heads. Crankshaft has double oil holes, similar to 8BA, but ran early style rods, notched to accept lock in shell bearings. These are now impossible to find, however, can be substituted for regular floaters, alternatively one can use 8BA rods and bearings on that crank. These engines ran one piece valve guide assemblies, mostly using valve rotator assemblies. Some 69's have hardened ex valve seat inserts.

Re: Headers Quote:
I would say that those numbers are Fenton's numbers denoting the application for these headers. Thus indicating these are for a Ford, 7101 indicating which Ford (a flathead), and of course right and left. Not a real, 'official' Ford number. |

Re: Headers makes sense fenton did a lot of stuff and not just for fords saw some buick stuff a while back looked as though it would work ok

Re: Headers I have a driver's side exh manifold that says sm-59 Los Angeles California on it that I was told came of a 1950 highway patrol car. I don't know how true the story is

Re: Headers I have two original sets of Fenton headers . Both sets have the ford part numbers. I would take the photos but they are on my cars . The numbers are the same as the photos above.
|
Re: Headers I have two sets. One on the 38 with a repop and an old set of used chrome ones. I'll have to check for numbers now (thanks). The later repro ones (they are repoped today) have clearance issues. Having them milled on the exhaust bolt side to block an 1/8" usually clears the steering box. Maybe a bit small relief with a dremal on the outside by the box for more space. They are cast very thick so lot of material to work with.
