Engine facelift Over the past month I did a major engine facelift. I had a few leaks in the radiator and needed to remove it to get them fixed. With the radiator out it allowed me to get at the engine to clean and paint it without removing it. I removed all of the accessories and started to degrease the engine. I wanted to get the transmission done as well but just ran out of time and have other things I need to get done.
New parts included a lower coolant pipe, hoses, fan and miscellaneous hardware like manifold studs and exhaust clamp. Everything else was cleaned and painted. I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out. The water pump had a piece break off at some point in it's life. It didn't cause any leaks. I repaired the crack and rebuilt it with a leak less kit from Brattons. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...aabb078260.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a716043fb8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...916ecc8526.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a73220f137.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e9fd98cfec.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...edfab7c8b8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a10c8a9f99.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...10c0cf4ab8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...421a9c8295.jpg Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk |

Re: Engine facelift A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

Re: Engine facelift That looks good, all pretty and ready for spring. A model A that gets run needs a little engine paint every few decades. I am working on one that has all of the dirt and grease acquired over 91 years on it, amazing how much greasy dirt will stick to one.

Re: Engine facelift Looks good! I like a good looking and clean engine compartment and IMO make it easier to work on.

Re: Engine facelift Sure like the sediment bowl. Excellent job imho.

Re: Engine facelift Well done!

Re: Engine facelift Very nice, well worth all the hard work.

Re: Engine facelift Thanks everyone. It went a lot smoother than I thought. The engine was definitely the eyesore of the truck. Now it looks as good as the rest of the truck.

Re: Engine facelift Beautiful, I am darn sure you just added 10 HP!

Re: Engine facelift Looking good, but it reminds me of the old saying: "A coat of paint can hide a multitude of sins".
I assume that's not true in this case. |
Re: Engine facelift Looks good. We used to call that a DuPont overhaul.

Re: Engine facelift My friend used to say about his wife when she put her makeup on, any old barn looks better with a coat of paint.

Re: Engine facelift Looks Good. Like new.

Re: Engine facelift Thanks everyone. For those that need to clean up their engine I highly encourage it. A little time consuming and no better time now that everyone is on lockdown.
