33/34 Trunk Hinge

Anyone know a good source for 33/34 coupe trunk hinges? Every source I have checked so far is sold out or listed as discontinued. Except a Ebay listing for new ones at what I would consider a very step price, $350 I believe. Drake had them for around $125, but surprise, they are on backorder.

I see C&G has them in stainless, but would prefer more original.

Brand new reproduction trunk hinges cast in silicon bronze to fit 1933 1934 Ford Coupes, Roadsters, and Cabriolets. $350

C&G lists two versions of the trunk hinges for 33-34, stainless and plated. As for Drake, backorders are common, and often go unfilled, in our experience. During the restoration of my '47 convertible, I ordered a set of trunk hinges, and the ones sent did not resemble the correct type. I contacted them, and they said I must have a "different" car, as no one else complained. Got the right ones elsewhere. Expect to pay $135/pair at C&G, $200 for the stainless. If they don't have them in stock, they will tell you. (800) 266-0470

We are, here in the US, making them in cast stainless, not polished @ 350.00 set. We are able to make these in very small lots (5 pair)

Drakes are not in production, to get them made in Taiwan again they have to step up to 500 or so sets.

The bronze ones are from Steves Auto Restoration.

Karl, any idea what the originals were, forged, cast, material? Thanks

The originals I have appear to be cast, there is some sand grain visible.

For everyones enjoyment, here is a photo of the mold to make the wax, and a wax, for the investment casting. The mold is cast urethane. The pattern to make the mold was 3D printed oversize to compensate for shrinkage.

Re: 33/34 Trunk Hinge

350.00 is the going rate. I see a few of the usual scaplers trying to get 500-600-750 for same ones they paid 350 for. A lot of the '33/'34 stuff is in tulipmania stage prices.
Visors for 750, tack strips for 1500 ?
Come on.
