Clutch release shaft bushings... Who has recently installed the two bushings, right and left, on the bell housing for the clutch release shaft and just where did you get them?
I tried installing some yesterday and they did not fit. Can not remember just where I got them but they were junk! Thanks. Pluck |
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... I did mine a few months ago. Got them from Brattons and they fit fine.

Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Yea Brattons for me too. Fit was fine.

Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... I did mine a few weeks ago with a set of bushings from Snyders and they fit just fine.

However...I am seeing just one size in Bert's, Brattons and Snyders,,,Am I missing something? Pluck |
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Brattons sells the shaft but not the bushings?
|
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... No, The early 28 has NO bushings..
|
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Clutch release shaft bushings are the same all Model A years. On the pedal shaft, the 1928 used no bushings in the pedals. 1929-31 used bushings in the pedals that are same as the clutch release shaft bushings. We all currently sell the same brand bushings and they work fine.

Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... We are NOT talking about the Clutch and Brake Pedal Shaft A-7506...We are talking about the Clutch Release Shaft A-7510.
Synchro909...Yes, what Steve says is true, bushings are sold for the Clutch and Brake Pedal Shaft for 1929-1931 for the Clutch and Brake Pedals used on that shaft...However that shaft, when mated to the Bell housing has NO bushings there 1928-1931. Pluck |

Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Pluck,
I built all the parts tree week ago. Came from Bratton's. No problem to mount. |
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Found some bushings that work...had to do some reaming out but shaft fits like it is supposed to.
Now on to the next problem. Pluck |

I just now measured a throwout fork and the ID of the eye was 22.3mm . That converts to 7/8" as I have said repeatedly and I know the pedal shaft is 1" - the same as the gudgeon pins. A larger shaft for the pedal on our cars makes sense when you consider that the brake pedal, which is the one likely to take the most pressure (in a panic stop) is right out at the opposite end of the shaft from where it is supported by the bell housing. They obviously found that a 7/8" shaft would bend. Neither shaft nor bushes are available. |
Re: Clutch release shaft bushings... Steve, I had found and purchased a Lempco adjustable reamer that is 18inches long and has the tapered aligning sleeves on it so you can get the two bushings reamed in alignment to each other. Otherwise you may have to ream them larger to get the shaft to turn easily in the bell housing.
