Hood Bumper Kit....

I want to install my new Hood Bumper Kit on my '36 Ford pickup.
I "think" I squeeze with needle-nose pliers the little Black metal "rivet" that has the split end and insert into opposing little Black metal "rivet" and possibly use a "C" clamp to press or squeeze together. Please let me know back if I am correct on this.

....ALSO....when installing the hood bumpers on the front and rear of the hood sides, does the black rubber bumper go on the backside of the hood side then "sandwiched" between the hood side and the little triangular retainer clip with the little Black "rivet" going thru all this from the front side of the hood and squeezed together.
Possibly reply back with a photo would be very helpful.

THANK YOU,

Re: Hood Bumper Kit....

Hi Bruce, The 35-36 restoration book had good pics that I used when doing the hood corner bumpers on a passenger car.

I had a butt-ton of trouble on the corner pieces because the rubber didn't want to squeeze tight enough to get a good bight on the rivets in the kit.

The ones on the fenders I did with the engine out after trying to figure a good tool to try to apply the crush pressure.

I considered chucking the rivets for some brass ones which crush easier.

Get yourself a small rivet tool. They are the best way to do it.
You will need a helper to hold the panel, but it is the way to go. Mine is one that has a fitting and you hit the rod with a hammer. Neat and clean.

Bruce, Here is a shot of the front hood bumper on my 35 panel delivery that should help you.

Re: Hood Bumper Kit....

THANK YOU all for your reply's back to me about the Hood Bumper Kit. Now I know the correct orientation of the rubber Hood Bumpers in regards to the hood sides.

Am I right in "thinking" that the split Rivet gets pressed into the non-split Rivet body, or is it just my choice of two different styles of Rivets to use, that come with the Hood Bumper Kit.

Eight bumpers and eight rivets in a kit, am I right?

On commercial vehicles there are only a front and back on the hood. You could be counting the inner fender panels. That would add 4 more.
