Oversize Valves

I've read several post on the pros and cons of using oversize valves but haven't seen any mention of the oversize valves causing problems with the head gasket. Has anyone with the oversize valves had any issues with blown head gaskets?
Thanks

Re: Oversize Valves

I use 1.700" intakes, with no problems. Bigger than stock exhausts are not needed.

Nope, how could valves effect a head gasket? If it was a thing, then over-sized pistons would also be a thing.

Check to be sure the oversize valve clears the side of the combustion chamber.

ditto what Jim B says. I have used 1.700 intake valves in several engines.

Check the clearance of oversized valves anyway. 1.7" did not clear my Weiand head combustion chamber edges. Do not know what head Jim B and Ken Parker used with no problems. Let us know. I have never heard of anything failing for measuring too much.

PC/SR for the record I have used Stock Model A, Snyders 5.5 and 6.1, and Brumfeld 5.9

I have used a Cyclone head, presently a BRIERLEY head, no problems with either.

I had one of the first Lion Head III 6.5 to 1 (4 spark plugs)(first version of III) 1.7 intakes rubbed on head had to relieve area.

The later ones were changed to clear 1.7s.

No problem with original Thomas 8.25 to 1 head

Thanks for the info on the heads and fitting the valves. Good to know.
