Pickup bed wood parts

I am restoring my 30 CCPU, and am currently working on the bed. In evaluating the wood, it isn't salvageble., So I will make new. My questions are: are the wood bed slats supposed to be the same width? Mine are two different widths, but I have seen them incorrectly made on later pickups that way. And the subrails, what kind of wood are they, and the approximate dimensions? Mine are not Oak as I would expect, and the cross section is not standard. Any help would be appreciated.

I got under bed and measured the width of the boards on my narrow bed 31.
The two outboard boards measure 7-1/8” The three others measure 6-7/8”.
The sub rails are 1-3/4” tall x 3-5/8” wide. Unknown wood species. They are about 40” long. I can’t get an exact length as it is blocked by the dust pan between the cab and the bed.
The sub rails run from the front of the bed and end 15” short of the steel bed angle that they support.

Thank you for doing that! Interesting, mine are pretty close to the ones in the older thread drawing. But your narrower ones are over an inch wider!
Subrails measurements appear to be spot on.

Re: Pickup bed wood parts

The bolt holes that attach the steel hold down strips and grooves in the wood all aligned up.
These were aftermarket boards. I think the key is the spacing of the holes in the steel cross members. Those boards came with my project truck so I don’t know who supplied them. A lot of it was in pieces mostly and stored for 18 years.
