Get the Red Out (Down) in that Motometer I have a nice original Motometer with the mercury all the way to the top with no gaps. I've tried tapping the stem on a tire to no avail. Any other ideas about how to get the mercury back where it belongs that work?

Re: Get the Red Out (Down) in that Motometer Tie a string around the motometer so that it hangs top side up. Then spin around above your head like a helicopter. This centrifugal force will push the red down into the base.

Re: Get the Red Out (Down) in that Motometer Another similar tip I read is put it in a sock and spin it around. Same idea as the string.
The concept is exactly the same as when you used to have to shake the old thermometers back down after taking your temperature. Use gravity. Spinning it around on a string just helps you not kill your arm by doing the thermometer flick. http://nursing411.org/Courses/MD0531...0531_img_2.jpg |

Leo My Dad said to put it in the freezer overnight than tap it on a tire. He said that works. |
Re: Get the Red Out (Down) in that Motometer The freezer trick worked very well. Thank you.
