Interior trim nailing material
 

When I removed the interior rear side panels ( the ones that fit in the curve in the rear corners) I found that there is a channel that holds some sort of material up at the top of these curved panels which I assume is for holding the nails that hold the side panels. Does anyone know what that material is and what to do to replace the deteriorated core of these channels? My car is a 31 tudor. Jack (thanks in advance)

I have used upholstery panel board or leather strips before
Cut to width and glued and laminated to get to the correct thickness

Classtique upholstery has a small tutorial on their website on this. I do what Oldbluoval does. They do make a flexible plastic material that I have also used. Check with an auto upholstery shop.

It’s a hard rubber material and they do sell it at trim shops . It comes in a few sizes trim tack strip comes in a roll or strips . Http://www.dltcorporation.com
