Did not know Ford of Canada installed uncoated/non painted gas tanks in pickups till I jut removed mine ?

I am not 100% certain about '46 but find it very difficult to believe the tank was not terne coated.

Something like a clear coat maybe ? Just a tiny bit of rust in a couple spots on bottom . Top might have had flat black by others at some point.

Me too (doubting the absence of terne [aka lead alloy] coating) unless someone foolishly removed it post production.

Bob, Thanks for sending the photo. It appears your tank was in fact terne plated.
That small amount of rust is somewhat expected after all of these years.
