36 grille needing chromed We are at the point in our restoration that its time to think about chroming our original grille in the 36. We bought a repro at Hershey this year but after comparing it to the original it just is not going to work. There are many differences that I can not live with. Where on the east coast ( near WV) can a guy send something this size? How much money are we talking? Oh by the way if someone is interested in the chrome repro I would like to recover some of my money on it, I paid 300.00 for it. The condition of the original is pretty good, it is not beat up or thin any where.

Re: 36 grille needing chromed I recently had my 36 grille chrome plated [had some repair work done] by advanced plating in Nashville. Cost was $2500 ,it turned out beautiful as did the other items I had plated. Ten weeks lead time then. W.L.

Re: 36 grille needing chromed Wow! This may be the single most expensive part of this car. The upholstrey kit was less than this. Do they do quotes based on the piece you send them?

Re: 36 grille needing chromed You might want to try Paul's Chrome in Evans City, Pa. They will quote over internet with pictures, at www.paulschrome.com or call 1-800-245-8679. They did a lot of parts forr me, not cheap but good.

Re: 36 grille needing chromed I think advance plating is about the highest dollar plater around. Two years ago, I had a 34 grille that was perfect except the 70 year old chrome was dull. No pits anywhere. They wanted $2500.00 to plate. This was a part that required very little buffing to plate. I took it to Dan's polishing shop and they plated it for $850.00, and it looked super.
