Auction purchase 6 Attachment(s)
Went to an estate auction on Saturday. Lot of A, B but mainly early flathead stuff. 33 5 window coupe brought 27,500 but the B engine that went with it is now in my garage. New owner said he was going to rod the car and didn't want the engine. Problem is I built the engine 8 years ago for the old owner and it was never installed and since I knew it wasn't cracked and bored .030 over with new valve train and original babbitt, just couldn't pass it up. I included a picture showing the difference in the front cover between early A, A, early B and 33 B. Also the differences in a few other things I found. Also a picture of the surface rust that is on the top of the block. It was stored in an unheated garage for those 8 years with #1 and #4 TDC. Valves were open on #2 and #3 which caused condensation in that area. He didn't block off the manifold ports.
Haven't decided whether to put it back together as an A installation, B or 33 B. It would look good in my A400 with the Simmons intake and carburetor.:) |
Re: Auction purchase I see three A covers, bottom left a service replacement, and a 1933-34 Cover.

Re: Auction purchase I thought the bottom left is the 32 B cover. I know they made a couple more covers. The ones with a boss so the timing pin hole could be drilled either for the B or the A. I was lazy and didn't look thru all my covers for one of those. I was just looking at the generator bracket location.
