Ford Barners ... What must not be missed during a visit to Pennsylvania in October?

We are a bunch of old farts who thought about making a visit to Pennsylvania.
We are grateful for any suggestions, that not only must be car-related, it can be .... Buildings, Small Private Places of Interest,
Manufacturing, Old trains, Old things great and small.

Thanks in advance!

Lots of antique shops in eastern Pa. You can pick up maps in many shops. Also auctions every day of the week .

+2 for Gettysburg. Went there for the first time last year and looking forward to going back. Take a guided bus tour and ask for the guide that is a local history teacher - kinda short with glasses and a beard. His knowledge of Gettysburg was unbelievable.

If you like old trains you shouldn't miss Steam town USA, in Scranton PA. Here's a web site:www.nps.gov/stea/ .

In the same area check out the coal mine tours. Upstate New York has wine tours and they are 2 hours north. Lots to see, do your homework on the computer before you leave, Chuck.

AMISH in LANCASTER, PA

Interesting to see how the AMISH people live in the Lancaster, PA area... Lots of Outlet Shopping there also.
I hope you enjoy your visit. It's a great area. Weather can be wet that time of year.

In the fall,car/train events are coordinated. IE:
Englishtown -Cars/fleas in NJ Sept 23-25, 2011
Carlisle-post war cars/fleas, sept 28-Oct 1, 2011
Hershey-everything, 4-8 Oct, 2011
York-Train Collectors Association meet @ theYork Fairgrounds

Many folks come east for all four events.

For the TCA Eastern Division Train meet at York, if you are not TCA you need a sponsor to guest you in. That would be me([email protected]) The meet is twice a year. Spring is April 14-16, 2011 and Fall is October 13-15, 2011. 9 buildings of toy trains! Love the fun and the huge gathering of friends.

Past President, TCA

If you are in PA, you should be sure to take in the historic city of Philadelphia of course, the birthplace of our nation. While you are there, a must see is the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum. It's a racing car museum. A fabulous collection that includes everything from LeMans to NASCAR. Go to
