paypal again Had to get a new credit card. And now I'm back to Paypal doing the currency conversion, yet again, instead of the credit card when trying to buy an exhaust cutout pedal this morning.
So my previous procedures are null and void ... again. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showp...5&postcount=41 Paypal have requested I put in a technical request. The Paypal terms and conditions say "If your card issuer converts the currency, your card issuer will determine the currency conversion rate and what fees they may charge." |
Re: paypal again How about trying zelle?
Paypal is antiquated at this point......... |
Re: paypal again Paypal is a royal PITA !

Re: paypal again What are you trying to do?

I can get a much better rate on a credit card currency conversion, especially a card that doesn't charge a fee. The terms and conditions allow this. |
Re: paypal again Quote:
Okay, but remember visa/mastercard transactions in a foreign currency will attract a 3% conversion fee. |
Re: paypal again This is correct, "Offshore Service Margins"
|

You've got to pick the right card. |
Re: paypal again Cards that don't have that fee often use a worse exchange rate than the normal VISA/Mastercard rate.
|
Re: paypal again Quote:
Yep, gotta pick the right card. |
Re: paypal again The magical "right card" you have sure seems to be giving lots of problems...it aint the right card if you cannot use it.

I haven't had any problems with my card. |
Re: paypal again Don't take, don't use Paypal. Just my 2 cents.

Re: paypal again The response from PayPal technical having been told to go there by customer support:
"The Technical Support team does not have the account access necessary to address this issue. You will need to contact PayPal's Customer Service team for assistance" Next email: "We'd like to know how you feel about your email interaction with PayPal on 07 May 2019. Was it positive, negative or in-between? Your feedback will help us improve. It will take less than 3 minutes. Please select one answer and you'll be taken to the survey: How likely are you to recommend PayPal to a friend or a colleague?" |
Re: paypal again I had several small fraud things on a Chase Card. 2 and 4 cents. When I got hit for 6 bucks I went to the Chase branch near me. Computers were down, "Don't worry, we got your back if it is fraud." Went home and essentially forgot it until the next statement, $3500 gone by the wayside and according to the card billing, paid by PayPal. I tried the bank and they told me since I hadn't told them about the first 2 Cents within their allotted 60 day time frame they couldn't cover my $3500 but would gladly cover the first few that totaled $6.58. So I called PayPal and they told me they aren't responsible for the crime as essentially all they did was make good the charge to the crook. (Drove the getaway car.) At present the DA is in discussion with Chase and PayPal is Scott free. I no longer use PayPal and will dump Chase when this is finalized. Elder Financial Abuse. Sounds good, but doesn't seem to pay well on my end of it.

Re: paypal again Just got a package from Rock**** in 4 days with no GST. Pity they sent the wrong stuff, but their paying to get it back.
Anyway, these are the instructions for avoiding Paypal currency conversion. 1. Gear icon (in top right corner) 2. Payments 3. Manage Automatic Payments 4. Bottom left, Can't find what you're looking for? Try the Automatic payments page. Click "Automatic payments" 5. Opens another page. Look for "Set Available Funding Sources" (To the right of the GO button) and click on that. 6. On the next page click on "Conversation Options" 7. On the next page choose "Bill me in the currency listed on the seller's invoice" and submit With my magical elcheapo credit card currency conversion it is %2.63 better than Paypal currency conversion. |

More secrets? It's obviously Rockauto. I think I get it. Is this why you will not tell us the bank and card because you fear the Australian government will come after you for tax avoidance? :D You're in Australia not North Korea don't be so paranoid. |

But ... Facebook wants my photo https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-04-...ftware/9677156 |
Re: paypal again I’ve always used Paypal, mostly for convenience, however on with 2 fraudulent sellers Paypal did refund.
Only since reading your post updraught did I ever give offshore payments any considerations. I don’t pay international currency exchange on my debit card so I will start using that now for international purchases. There is one thing I don’t like about Ebay and Paypal when purchasing more than one item. Freight is charged double for two, treble for three, etc. |
