33-34 fuel pump mount repair Will the 28-30 Model A oil fill pipe fit the top of the 33-34 fuel pump adapter?
I have a good cast base that needs a new long baffled steel top pipe. If someone has done this or knows the diameter of the Model A fill pipe it would be very helpful. Thank You |
Re: 33-34 fuel pump mount repair i just went thru this. if you use the later base, then the baffles are in the base, not the upper tube. its 1 3/4 pipe that fits, i have one car with exhaust tubing for pipe, and in my jalopy thread thats aluminum. both had to be turned on the lathe on the inside of the top to fit the cap inside. i have model A's in the barn, will check later when i get out there, i think they will be the same OD, but still not fit the cap on top

Re: 33-34 fuel pump mount repair the pipe on my A is 1 7/8, so no go. i dont know what your project is, but heres another thing i just learned, the stock 34 tube is too low if using a low manifold (short fuel pump rod). stock (exposed height) 5 1/4, my home made 6 1/4 to clear the fire wall with a 35 manifold. i have a 34 base that the cast bottom is bad, tube is good, or a complete good 34 unit if you wish.

Re: 33-34 fuel pump mount repair Terry, i measured the wrong pipe!!! sorry, but still bad news, the A oil pipe is smaller, 1 5/8 or so (odd size) you could make a bushing

Re: 33-34 fuel pump mount repair The ID of the hole for the steel filler tube is 1-3/4" exactly, so it may work. Depending upon what "or so" is?? anything much smaller than 1-5/8 may not work over may work. If you want to send me a photo of the 34 broken bottom and good top, I will send you a PM with email. Thank You
