1946 Ford Insturment trim How do you attach the stainless trim to the two bolts that hold the insturments to the dash? It appears that it was originally glued somehow.

Re: 1946 Ford Insturment trim The trim for the four small gauges attaches with 4 tabs that fit under the trim above, and is secured with a threaded stud through the dash, one at each end. I don't believe that trim is reproduced. Welding or soldering to the thin metal trim usually isn't possible. The studs just hold the trim in place, so if you grind the heads of two small bolts flat, JB epoxy weld may hold it if allowed to completely cure, and the nuts are carefully tightened while the trim is held in place.

Re: 1946 Ford Insturment trim I have so far been unsuccessful at re-soldering one of the trim clips back onto my '48 glove box trim. Will probably resort to JB Weld.

I'm a bit confused about the trim that is being described. A picture would give me a better understanding of the issue. I just had my clock and speedo out of my '46, and the trim is part of the faceplates. Am I missing something?

Re: 1946 Ford Insturment trim When I redid mine in my old 46, I used flathead machine screws and jb welded them to the dash. it held fine.

Re: 1946 Ford Insturment trim Thanks to everyone that has posted a suggestion to my question. This car was my first car when I was 16 yrs old. I was able to finally track it down after trading it for a '59 Corvette just over 52 yrs ago and purchase it back. It needs a little love! Thanks again for all the help!
