Gear shift housing "innards"... I have two A-7222-B Gear shift housings, these are the housings that position the Hand brake lever in front of the Gear shift lever, that are the same on the outside but are different on the insides.
In looking at the area of #1, just under where the ball of the Gear shift lever assembly sits, is a dished out area where the A-7227 Gear shift lever spring mates up to. However in the other housing, #2, this "dished out" area was deleted. I take it that placed in this "dished out" area in #1 were parts A-7224 Gear shift lever felt and A-7225 Gear shift lever felt retainer...would that be correct? It appears that Ford made a change with in the housing and deleted these two items as they are not in #2. THAT BEING THE CASE...What then was described in the October 1, 1929 Parts Price List as A-7229-R as Gear shift housing bushing and just where was this "bushing" placed in the assembly? It may have been a "short-lived" part but just where did it go? Thanks. Pluck |
