Still sober

Hello all; Eighteen years today. This is NOT about me. I've taken an annual liberty to post my sobriety date since Shelly had the Barn, to inform and or remind everyone that help is a phone call away. Also now a days the internet can be used. I've had great responses over the years. A young man posted some years ago that he wasn't an alcoholic but had one in the family and how the disease affected them. There is also help available for people in this situation. I wish you all a productive and uneventful day, Craig.

Congratulations on 18 years! No small feat given the outside influences. You have exercised great control!

I commend you!

Good for you. Just think of how much money you have saved and how much healthier you are because of your sobriety.

Craig, I join you, had my last drink on March 17 1986, 33 years sober, I guess I just had to build some fatheads. Thank God.

I'm with you in 10 days on 18 years. Putting the word out there can definitely help others along way.

That's great, congratulations.
My only addiction was smoking cigarettes, and it was very difficult for me to kick that addiction about 35 years ago.

I'm very lucky, my only addiction has been early Fords. We all struggle with that one.

Well done to you fellas that have had real problems to deal with.

Respect.

Mart.

Re: Still sober

Good luck to you and all the others. I don't drink and people seem surprised. My answer typically is to say that others in my family has done enough drinking to last us all for a while.

I always tell people I'm on the wagon. Then I wait for someone to ask how long it's been, but nobody ever does. This June will be 41 years for me. Congrats to us all.

Re: Still sober

Congratulations to all of you. Drinking to excess never really appealed to me as it would take a week for me to feel 100%. And as my dad told me when I was a young man I wouldn't need booze or drugs in my life to act like an idiot as I was perfectly capable of doing it sober. My wife's father stopped in '74 just about when I started hanging around. I guess he thought I was a DT. He just turned 95 years old. Maybe he's still hoping I'll disappear!
