exhaust manifold coating

Anybody try one of the high-tech manifold coatings? If so, what has been your experience. Not talking here about fizz can paint jobs with barbecue paint, just the specialty shops, like Jet Coat, Cerama-Kote, etc.

Not Model A specific but I have used Jet Hot on motorcycle and car exhaust. It works very well and is very durable. It is also a little expensive. On something like a Model A exhaust manifold where they can get to the inside, it will be coated inside and out. You can get it in a variety of colors but I think the original silver is the most durable. I'm pretty sure Jet Hot is the original ceramic coater.

Vermin sports a coating of "CAST-BLAST" that was "cured" for 2 YEARS. Looks as "NEW"-----

I had Jet Hot coat my headers about 25 years ago......lots of miles since and they still look as good as when they were coated. Also.....easy to keep clean. But they were pricey to have done.

Jet-Hot done 30 years ago. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Now, Unka Bill, you KNOW you didn’t let it set and cure for 2 years before you used it! 😆

How long really?

A friend had the exhaust on a 350 King Air done in silver, it seemed to hold up very well

If you want to have silver, zinc spray can is very suitable for electrical welding of zinc. this is what the industry needs because it is conductive. Lasts for years on hot exhaust pipes.

I used POR 15 manifold grey on a few exhaust manifolds/headers. On the one set of headers, I inadvertently had the timing retarded and the headers got glowing red hot. No effect on the finish. Pretty good stuff IMO
