1931 Pickup Headliner 1 Attachment(s)
Hi all,
I am restoring a 1931 Model A Closed Cab Pickup with Budd Cab that has a steel roof. Cannot find adequate information on the interior upholstery. Did the original pickup have a headliner or was it just painted the same as the body? |

Just painted body color.

Re: 1931 Pickup Headliner Thanks Bob,
Based on the judging guidelines and other docs I have, the metal bows / braces would be body color and the wood bow over the windshield and rear window would be painted black. Are the metal brackets in the corners that retain the wood bows painted body color or black? |

The windshield header would be covered. Page E-66 of the Standards under 82-B cab state "Interior-painted body color with wood installed."

Re: 1931 Pickup Headliner I did a little special treatment to mine. I took out the steel roof bows and had them powder coated black. While they were out, I lined the underside of the steel roof with "Road Kill", an insulating/sound deadening material. (other brands like Dynamat would work as well). Then lined that with "carpet" like they cover speaker boxes and the like with. Put the roof bows back in (without the rope). Makes a very nice looking interior while not deviating from the original look.

Only interior trim pieces would be the header, kick panels, door panels, seats. -Tim |
