insert bearings
 

i've heard that insert bearings in the model a without a pressurized oil system will not hold up long term. what have been some of your experences ?

That is not true. Talk to Rich at Antique Engine Rebuilding in Skokie, IL. The Model A oil pump moves a gallon and half of oil every minute. This is more than enough oil.

Not true, like every thing else in this world, it depends on how well they are done. Just like babbitt you can do it wrong or you can do it right. The rods in my coupe are inserts and not pressure. They have 20,000 plus on them.

I have over 50,000 miles on my inserted engine. Dipper rods and gravity mains. Not one problem!
I agree with George...depends on how well they are done.

We have over 15,000 miles on insert rod bearings using the original dipper system and running great.
