41 Gas Tank

As a result of sitting for lots of years, I need to have the gas tank in my 41 coupe either boiled out or replaced. It's silted and rusted inside. If I can't find a local shop to boil it out , where can I find a suitable replacement?

Google "1941 Ford gas tank for sale" and info appears.
Be aware that your original 6V sending unit will not fit the reproduction tanks. A very good used tank would be best in my opinion if you want the gas tank sending unit to fit. However, I think adapters are available. The new tanks also must meet new safety standards.

I bought mine from Speedway, it's a Bob Drake (11A-9002 ) for 41 to 48. Fit good and sending unit worked. Al

Unless you are a purest and have your car judged, the best replacement tanks are plastic. They will never rust, and a good one is as easy to install as a metal tank. The one in my '47 is over 20 years old. It came from a supplier called "Yogi's". The sender fit, requiring only a ground wire attached to the frame and to one of the mounting screws.
