Re: Macs antique parts closing

 sorry to hear it but they should with the prices they charged me over the years including horrible service after restoring 5 cars thru them past 15yrs. im still waiting for a head gasket from back in 2012. I find LMC and D Carpenter for the best service with better prices. Good luck Macs, there was only 1 or 2 employees up there in the parts dept ive always asked for that seemed to know what was going on. I believe them guys left few yrs back and now everything is falling behind their leave. Then again, maybe they will be back with a new company name. Maybe tariffs hit them.

I hate to add negative comment but, Echo that. I stop using the years ago. I could list pages of rationale but their shipping was on top of list.

D Carpenter is my top go to vendor. You always know what the shipping is and very reasonable

Read about it here > https://www.lockportjournal.com/news...bf1f3a96e.html

But the above article is dated Jun 2nd, 2016! Nothing on their website to indicate they're closing....> https://www.macsautoparts.com/ford_mercury_early/

Re: Macs antique parts closing

Are they just shutting down the Lockport operation and moving everything to Florida? I thought I heard earlier on this site some things were moved to Florida.

Eckler just bought out some Tbird parts outfit so I read.

C&G is just like a subsidiary of Dennis Carpenter selling the same stuff at the same prices. Either is a whole lot better than Backorder Drake.

i think the 34 exhaust system i bought from macs last year was for a 53 plymouth. i had to cut, weld, rebend, even cut off the flanges to the manifold to make it fit. at that time, no body else had one, they all said the supplier had stopped making them, which is what i should have done-made one. not sorry to see them go away. more business for the good guys

Re: Macs antique parts closing

Maybe I've had a bad experience, but I've only called Joe's once. Basically if I didn't have a part number the person on the phone couldn't help me. I haven't called back since.

Re: Macs antique parts closing

you must have not talked to Joe, never had a problem with his knowledge. first person to EVER tell me that I did not want to buy a part that he had in inventory because I would not like it.

Must have. I've only ever spoken to either Joe or his wife. Always top notch and never an issue. Shipping usually goes out same day if you call before lunch.

Re: Macs antique parts closing

I think I've posted this before but IMO its worth posting again about Joe's. I placed a fairly large order with him and later that day I noticed I had a missed call from him. I called him the next day and he told me the credit card number he had for me wasn't any good (cancelled due to Patrick's in AZ but that's a different story). He assured me that he had already shipped the parts even without the new card number since as he told me, "old car people are honest".
On another order there was a miscommunication about some small door parts and when I called they immediately shipped the parts without billing me or charging for postage saying they would ad the parts cost on my next order without any shipping charges. Joe's is always my first call when I need parts, period.
