You better hurry up and buy. I just read that they have stopped formulating Lacquer as of August. Once it is sold off the shelves there will be no more.

One minor difference; lacquer is basically harmless and urethane is harmful without the proper equipment.

Amen to what Dave says. If you use urethane you better have some REAL GOOD breathing apparatus or your time on the planet will be severely limited.

I didn't research it much, but a search online of "lacquer automotive paint" turns up a lot of responses including O Reilly, Amazon & eBay among others.

Looks like most of this is Acrylic Lacquer.

Just got a small catalog from Summit Racing and they are selling lacquer. Not sure if they will ship it to California, but you can drive to Reno, Nevada and pick it up.

We still can buy lacquer here in Idaho and Washington. He might get some shipped Fed Ex. I get my PPG 4000 clear from Calif. and it comes Fed Ex.

Guitar makers (Fenders and Gibson) are still spraying nitro-cellulose lacquer on some of their higher end historic model guitars, so it's available somewhere.

I use to get nitrocellulose lacquer at the local piano refinish / restoration shop . Black , red , white , only colors available . That was 7-8 yrs ago .
Gosh I love that smell . Brings me back to my childhood in my uncles body shop in New Jersey .

I can about guarantee it is acrylic. Acrylic lacquer is easy to find it is the nitro-cellulose lacquer that is rare.
