Kong Head for Model A/B engine Has anyone ever seen a Kong head for the A/B engines? How rare are they? How are they as far as performance?
Thanks, Scott |

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine Picture I saw today is one a friend sent me. He just acquired it. It is unmachined. It certainly looks like an A head but I need to see it in person. I am not comfortable posting a pic because it’s not mine. I am interested in the value because I would love to have it but I fear that it’s way out of my league as far as price goes. ( that is if he ever decides to sell it). Thank you for the reply and if I get permission I will post some pics.
Thanks, Scott |
Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine I guess technically it’s a B head as there was no water pump provision in the head.

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine I owned and ran a Kong Jackson head on a speedster some when I ran with AARA. It is an air-cooled head. It really is not designed for a street application. There is no water pump provision as only the block retained water.

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine I knew Kong, but never saw or heard of a Model A head by him. He was most noted for his V8 ignitions but did make V8 heads in the 80's. They had the fins going 'the wrong way', vertically. Kong was our contact for our 'Winfield week-ends'.

Here’s a pic of the one I was talking about.

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine Do you also have a picture of the “important” side?

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine That is for a V8

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine You are correct. A v8 intake next to it.
What v8 has a bolt pattern like that? |
Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine No photo of the backside.

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine It looks like a V8 head at first glance but the bolt pattern is not for a V8, no way. I think it could be for an A or B. I see a hole for the distributor, the plugs would be centered between the valves with the last four head bolts right next to them. I don't know what he water pump deal would be, unless the head is super thick. Maybe a remote pump/no pump? Does it say Kong? I can't tell. If Jim Brierly hasn't seen one, it has to be super rare.

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine Maybe a 60HP flathead?

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine That's an A or B bolt pattern.

Here's the Kong head with Kong front ignition drive

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine Most likely it's 1 of Kong's prototypes that never really got into the production stage he at 1 time had all the old winfield patterns!!!

Re: Kong Head for Model A/B engine Last oct. I saw one at a swap meet at the racing museum near Hershey. Price was $3,000 that was the I don't want to sell it price.
