now to prime a model b oil pump How do you prime a model B oil pump?
|
Re: now to prime a model b oil pump Pour a quart of oil down the distributor hole in the head.

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump Thanks....For your help, but in second thought would be already be primed because on the model B as on the model A the pump intake screen already sits in the oil in the plan?

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump I always prime / fill the pump with assembly lube if I can’t prime with a drill.

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump While it is good idea to prime a V8 pump except perhaps the first design used on the earliest '32s, the very nature of a Model A or B oil pump (and the first '32 V8 pump version) is that they are self priming by virtue of their open bottom being immersed in four plus inches of oil.

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump Can the distributor be removed and the oil pump be spun like in some other V8's?

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump No the oil pump is driven from the back of the cam, maybe pour some oil down the breather tube might get some oil in that way. Like other's have said it is covered in oil in the pan and should not need priming. Al

Re: now to prime a model b oil pump With respect, this is a four-cylinder pump he is asking about which is driven off the center of the camshaft, not off the rear. The breather tube/oil filler tube is on the other side of the engine and not aligned with the pump.
