What fabric was used in the 31SW? Thanks

(4) Brown Artificial Leather?

So what's the story on the artificial leather option on the 160B. I have owned a slant Town Sedan since '63 and have asked about any picture or sample since then with zero response. If it never really happened then that would be good to know also. Seem that artificial leather should have survived better than it seems. As for the original question, there is more to the answer than just what was used on the seats as the other panels may have been broadcloth. My sedan was trimmed in a mouse brown mohair and survived well into the eighties, then failed badly. Good Luck: Fred A

My '31 SW 160B still has the original upholstery which is brown mohair.

My 160 B still has the original tan broadcloth with stripes. I used a Bissell Green machine and Woolite to clean it and it has held up great. Boy was that water dirty with 77 years of dust. The drivers seat springs are not the best, but I am afraid to take it apart to fix.

I had the same problem with the springs. I was able to carefully remove the old springs and install new without damaging the original interior. It was about 20 years ago so I don't remember all the details but as I recall I just removed the wire rings holding the upholstery to the bottom of the spring, lifted it out, put the new spring in and reattached the fasteners.

Maybe someday I will try to fix it, but for now I will just enjoy it. I have not seen another sedan with the broadcloth seats, and no one reproduces the material.
