Sale price Hi All,
My father-in-law has a 1931 2 door model A unfortunately he has Alzheimer's and it has fallen on me to sell it. It doesn't run and body looks to be in fair/good condition .I have no experience in antique cars so I am at a loss on how much to ask for it.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Sale price Start by adding your general location to your profile, it might help in ways you least expect. Post several pictures here of the car with detail of the engine, undercarriage, interior, and overall body. Cell phone pictures are fine but get as close as possible. Re: Sale price Mick, Too much depends on the condition of the car to give a good estimate... but it could be anywhere from $5,000 to 15,000 depending on condition. I would say if it is in relatively good shape and the paint is alright, you may be in the $9,000 to $12000. range.

Re: Sale price There are a lot of good guys in the old car hobby but as in any group there are a few rotten apples. Spend the time to understand what the car is really worth, maybe even a professional appraisal before you commit to anything. Maybe it was appraised the last time it was insured? Everyone looks forward to pictures.

I’m sure our members would be happy to help you figure out a price for the car or better yet, encourage you to join us in the hobby. Re: Sale price It is a tudor- nice solid body- will need paint and upholstery is serviceable, but a bit tattered. Good headliner, but car does not run and there are problems with the head.
Motor has been swapped out and has good title. car will be sold as is, with no further motor work.Needs a new vinyl top- as it is splitting.Chrome looks fine. So there you have it............. |

Jim PMd me on the Barn yesterday morning, stating the car never sold and would I like to buy it. Brought it home today. She def needs some work, but has some nice features as well. spare tire is bolted to the trunk and you unlatch the trunk and it opens out toward you. Never saw that before, but definitely a neat piece. Also has the clock in the rear view mirror. So as I went to pick it up, Rich the owner was told by his wife that the car had been sold, just after I got there. He came out one last time to see it and said, dont get dementia when you get older. Was a sad moment. Rich isnt all that old and he put alot of care into that car. So guys, enjoy things while you can and prepare for the inevitable future. |

Re: Sale price Find a way to keep the previous owner connected. The fella that was the previous owner of my car was a big supporter of his local little league. I found a baseball card when I was cleaning the car out. I keep that baseball card in the car in his honor.

I bought my fordor from a guy that bought it from the man that assembled it in the early 80's. With the paperwork was the phone number of the guy that built it. I called just to tell him that the car was still on the road and pretty much the same as when he sold it. Well, his daughter told me he had passed away and she was in tears when she told me about how her dad loved to tinker and was very thankful that I called. |

It gave me a bit of pause, because I wasnt expecting it. will try and post some photos later today. Looks like some kind of water leak under the distributor? Motor is supposedly rebuilt. |
Re: Sale price I knew that car years ago. It has a "Kari-Keen" trunk. They used to be known as Milk can carriers as they could haul 4 cans when open, maybe hooch instead of milk
