door latch and linkage arm Problem with lock on 39 Deluxe Coupe. The key will not lock or unlock the door. The key "feels" like it is working properly - it turns and stops at the appropriate positions but the lock does not move. Could the problem be with the linkage arm? Thanks for your input.

Re: door latch and linkage arm Yes the inside handle works as it should. The problem is the key will not lock or unlock the latch.

Re: door latch and linkage arm Probably going to have to remove the door panel to find out what's wrong.

Re: door latch and linkage arm The lock cylinder may not be installed properly. The cylinder has a square drive on the rear that must enter the square hole on the door latch mechanism. Suggest removing the lock cylinder to see if the drive is long enough. If you do remove the cylinder it can be very difficult to get it back in place without removing the interior door panel.

Re: door latch and linkage arm Thanks for the suggestion but I have eliminated the lock cylinder as the culprit. After buying one from John McClure I installed it into the square hold you refer to by removing only a portion of the door panel. I can see the end of the square turning as I turn the lock with the key. Thanks.
