Sorry- but a pet peve is folks starting threads with titles like....Oh I did it again, or what's my problem, or- Look at this, etc. It does nothing for the archive or if someone actually wants to help you with your SPECIFIC problem. Said my peace.

Me too ...

If the thread turns into something really useful that I might want to find again in the future ...

I go to "Go advanced" tab at bottom of window and change the title in MY post to something useful.


At least that way someone searching in the future can find the KEYWORDS in the thread title. !

With computer search engines it is ALL ABOUT KEYWORDS ... If BS is in the title ... you only get BS in a search!

yup - don't really understand why folks do that, especially the ones along the lines of "How do I..." - mostly because I see this forum as a repository of knowledge - and by not having the subject matter in the title, it makes it damn near impossible for future readers of the forum to find what they are looking for.

Yep, and also throw in the use of acronyms. BTW is fairly well known, but a lot of others aren't, and I won't waste time trying to figure them out.


BTW, has "to be" been eliminated from the English language?
"The car needs restored" just sounds so dumb.

I use the search feature all the time, and it has really been a benefit. I always start as an advanced search and look at the titles only in the Model A forum. If I don't find it there on that pass, I will change search terms, and if I still can't find it I will expand the search to look in all posts and not just the titles. Obviously, one gets a lot more stuff there, and all that has saved me from asking tons of questions that have already been asked. What I do notice is that when I expand the search and have to wade through the more expanded version, is that many of the things I find came from one of those nonsense headers that I would have never found by just searching the titles. So, I agree, BE Specific, please.

You search in in the post, not the title because sometimes threads stray a bit, and the info you’re looking for would never had been found by title search.

I've found the forum search to be hard to use to find what I'm looking for, likely because of the reasons mentioned above. It seems to be easier to use Google as in " ignition timing ford barn" which not only brings up threads on the Barn but also various other articles from other sources.
