Owners manuals

There seems to be a large price difference in owners manuals. Obviously the condition plays a role in what they are worth.

Is there a way to check if they are original or reprinted?

Yes there is. I am sure that Don Turley or someone else very knowledgeable about this will post. Don has many originals on his website and also has some advertised in the swap meet section of this forum.

I purchased an owner's manual from Don Turley and he probably has what you need, of course if this is not for show the reprints will give you the basic information regarding the car. But Don has the owner's manuals in various conditions from NOS to good and he will keep you on track as to the correct one for your month and year.

They are available for about $8 as new reprints from all the vendors, and the originals go for a wad of cash.
There are different versions for the different years, even one with the side bowl carb for the late 1931 car.
The MAFCA link in a previous post to this thread, which Bob Johnson authored tells how to differentiate between originals and reprints.

Re: Owners manuals

I found an original manual in excellent condition at an antique shop some yeas ago. I paid $18 for it and at the time a friend valued it at $100 since it was perfect for a show car. The one thing I noticed was the photos in the original were so sharpe compared to the reprints.
So don't overlook the used book section when you visit an antique shop, you never know what your going to run across.

Yeah, I found this rather tatty OM at a flea-market as well. ....didn't pay a lot for it and I'm rather annoyed that I can not even read what it says....so careful what you buy! :D

Can anyone help out with a translation of the cover?

Fordially,
Brad in Germany

PS: This original OM is dated 1930, printed in Detroit for the initial Ford Model A's that were shipped to Russia in parts and assembled at the assembly plant just outside of Moscow.
