Would you use this coil? Is this coil good for continued use?
The primary check of the 2 poles shows 2.3k. The specs call for 1.0-1.4. The secondary shows at 15.5k. The spec shows 5.8k-9.2k. |
Re: Would you use this coil? If you have over 2k on the primary and the spec is for 1-1.4 ohms, then no, replace it.

Re: Would you use this coil? Try it, not hard to swap in a coil for testing, you may like it.
How accurate is your meter? |
Re: Would you use this coil? A Guy, unknowingly, put a 6 Volt coil on a 12 Volt Dodge! GREAT SPARK, 1/2 Hour later, it EXPLODED, COPPER FUZZ & OIL, everywhere! Worse thing, it wuz a FLATBED & nobody had a FLATBED thet could haul it!!!

Re: Would you use this coil? Folks forget that a 1.4 ohm coil must use a external ballast resistor then it is fine for a 12V system.
Now note a cheap ohm meter usually is not accurate enough to measure the Ohms correctly. |

Yes, especially when you try to measure less than about 5 ohms. |
Re: Would you use this coil? What should the added resister read? I just put a 12 volt battery in my 6 Volt tractor and was planning on buying a coil. maybe I can just make the modification.

Re: Would you use this coil? Use a 1 1/2 ohm coil rated for at least 30 watts or more. Auto stores should have something in stock.
