Nailing header on? I have a 31 2-door sedan and have replaced all the top wood. Now how do I nail in all those tiny nails in the header cover? I have not installed the motor or transmission yet but I have the body sitting on the frame. I thought it would be easier to be in the motor area standing or on my knees trying to install these nails without the engine in the way. The area where the nails go is on a slope and not easy to get to if you wear glasses. Does the sun shade go on after the header cover? How do you guys install this metal cover and the sun shade?

Re: Nailing header on? Right or wrong, I put the cover on after the visor. Pre- drill the nail holes, pushed start the nails, and drive home the nails using a long punch! After the install, I then run a bead of sealer. Have fun :-)

Re: Nailing header on? Hold the nails with needle nose pliers when starting them. The last one I installed, did not to need to pre drill.

Re: Nailing header on? I believe that there is a welting that goes between the cover and the visor .It is similar to the gas tank welting. Norm

Re: Nailing header on? Thank-you guys for helping me to know how you have put the header on. I know their (nails) are at a slant and couldn’t hardly be able to do it with the motor in.

Re: Nailing header on? Predrill nail holes just enough to hold nail to start, use a carpenters nail set to drive nails. Those nails are a piece of cake compared to painting that area with everything in place, when you wear bifocals.
