Try Vintage Vehicles in Wautoma, Wi. Restore bands, radiator shells, bumper clamps, etc. Excellent work and often have restored pieces for sale.

While on the topic, any words of wisdom on how to remove/reinstall the cowl band without damaging it in the process. Mine (on a 1930 Roadster) will have to come off soon for a cowl patch repair.

It is bolted through the sheet metal on both ends - remove the interior cowl trim panels to access the nuts.

CHuDWah.. Had a look just now with a flashlight. Are there 4 fasteners, i.e. 2 at the ends and 2 in the corners (bends)? It appears to be so on my car.

They are attatched at ends only.

I've found that putting something like penetrating oil on the threads and letting it soak for quite a while can be helpful. Also, sometimes some concentrated heat from a blow torch can loosen those nuts. You don't want to force them.

That's spot on advise - I put a couple of rags below and sprayed the threads and nuts down with PB blaster. I'll soak them for a week. Removing and installing my wife helps me, a paint job is expensive.

There are a couple of clips on the top side that locate the band and keep in place, should be just held in place with screws.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't that just on Fordors - i.e., non-Ford Briggs and/or Murray bodies?

Early 30 cowl bands, which go all the way down to the splash shield, attach differently. Also the lower molding on the cowl stops short of the firewall to allow the cowl band to go down further.

Thanks for this tip Pmsqrd. Looks like mine is later '30 since band stops about 1-1/2 inches above the splash shield and the moulding extends to the firewall.

My late 1930 Sport Coupe has them and they are located where the cowl band makes the turn to go down the side of the body. I hope this helps.

Be glad it's not a '29 Town Sedan. Pulling that off (and putting it on) are exercises in nervousness.
