Headlight Help Please on a 1929 Tudor

I am getting started replacing the main wiring harness for the headlights/tail light and I am perplexed on what parts I need for my 1929, two bulb headlight buckets to properly hook up the conduit from the radiator shell to the headlight bucket.

When I acquired the car there were no conduits in place and when I opened the buckets up yesterday the wires were just wire nutted together. So I will be ordering new two bulb sockets.

I have been pouring over past threads and looking at the various vendor web sites and nothing is jumping out at me as obvious.

Any helpful advise is most appreciated.

Look in Mike's "A-Fordable Parts Catalog.

Hi Eric
The conduit attachment is simple. It is held in the radiator shell by a rubber grommet and it twist locks on the head light bucket socket. Just make sure you have the grommets and you should be all set. HOWEVER- a lot of the repro stuff is junk. you may want to consider hard wiring your lights to avoid the problems junk parts cause. I hard wired my lights after giving up on repro parts and haven't had a blown fuse or shorted out light sense. Sometimes reproduction parts can be a real problem.

My truck had no electrical system other than a generator and ignition. I installed a complete harness from Brattons. It went in easily and have had no problems in over two years and 2000 miles.

I would put bullet connectors on the ends of the wires from the headlights then use the wire connectors PN 20540 to connect to the wiring harness bullet connectors. Put on the conduits and run the wires from the harness into the bucket and make your connections with the wire connectors there. It makes a good electrical connection and NO shorts ever. I would also run an additional ground wire from the headlight bucket to frame ground. Do not even mess with those connections with the headlight socket and the plastic plugs at the ends of the conduits. No one will ever see the missing parts and you will not ever have electrical problems with shorts in those connectors. Just my opinion.

Kimlinh is right. Repro sockets will short out. Don’t waste your money. If you want sockets, find some good originals.

I did my 29 in the fall. I ordered everything from Bert's in Colorado. They were the only ones that listed a 29 two light harness. The 29's need a longer wire for the brake switch compared to 30 and 31. I ordered sockets and everything, worked great.
