Will a quart of red and a quart of gray paint cover an 48 8-n, after it is primed?

A quart of gray is plenty. A quart of red is close, but should do it. I did my 8N with two quarts, one of each color.

Do you have the exact, "correct", shades of red and gray? There are a lot of shades of red and gray out there that are close, but not original! Next question: Will anyone notice, or care?

Think I used TSC last time I painted mine. Qt of each should work.

I used Rustoleum sunrise red to paint my loader to match my 8N came out pretty close. Unfortunately I just sold my 8N after 10 years of ownership, don't have the room or need anymore. I have a picture in my album

I used Tractor Supply enamel on my 8N and it looked nice for about 2 yrs. I would use an epoxy single stage to make it look good for a long time. Of course, keeping it inside will make a big difference!

Used tractor supply paint on mine. It's a little lighter than the Ford (New Holland) in my opinion but looks good.

In both fourms, there has been a LOT of discussion about a change in suppliers for paint at Tractor Supply Company (TSC) to VanSickle or Valspar (I don't remember which is more current), and it hasn't been too kind for what's now being offered - reds fade, paint chalks over time, etc. In short, what they currently offer is cheap-azzed paint that lacks some of the solids and other materials that higher-quality paints offer. Many get their paint from Tisco, which available through places that specialize in the N-series tractors. Me, I still have a few quarts of red and olive gray straight from a Ford tractor dealer that I bought over 35 years ago, but I haven't been brave enough to open a can to see if the lead-based paint is still good.
