Dan Gurney passes

Dan Gurney died Sunday at age 86 of complications with pneumonia. He was a champion and gentleman in every sense of the words.

Late 60's / early 70's. I was treated to a trip to the Seattle International Raceway (SIR) by Formula Race Car designer/builder Lyle Forsgren. I couldn't believe it when I found Gurney and Andretti (sp?) were at the track. Seems like just yesterday. RIP Dan.

I think he was the driver of the 7litre Galaxie that finally knocked off the 3.8 mk2 jags in the British touring car championship .

I sold Dan my 1948 Ariel VH Red Hunter a few years ago. They bought it for him for his 80th birthday. His secretary told me he had one of those bikes stolen from him when he was in his twenties in California!
