Tool & gauge I.D. please... Last fall I picked some Old Ford parts and had these in some of the boxes, not sure the application or use.
The first pictured oil gauge is a Rex-A-Co. out of Racine Wisconsin, I know they make great Kringle in Racine but would like to know more about this item. The last two pictures are an Allen cell tester out of Kalamazoo Mich., any info would be great. |
Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... The gauge looks like an accessory add on for a Model A. Don't know about the other item.

Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... Yep. Gauge mounts on the bottom of a stock model A gauge panel.

Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... Have to be some kinda deal you touched to the exposed lead on top of a 6v battery to see which cell was dead?
|
Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... Yes - The Allen Tester is designed to check individual cells for load and voltage. You press the pointy ends down into the lead connectors between the cells to get individual cell readings. It has a voltmeter and also has a shunt/resistor (that "coil" between the probes) to put a load on the individual cell to see how it performs under load. Can't use it on a modern battery because the inter-cell connections are no longer exposed. An oldie but goody. Back in the day these used to be widely used in garages and service stations and are on e-Bay fairly often. Search under Allen Tester.

Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... He's busy checking his lobster pots.
Since you asked, kringle is a Danish pastry that is a noted local speciality in Racine. Typically baked in an oval, it is iced and is usually has a fruit or nut based filling. They travel well and are available from a number of sellers. O & H Bakery is the go-to. https://www.ohdanishbakery.com/home |
Re: Tool & gauge I.D. please... Oh you have got to try that stuff. My Dad grew up in Racine and as a kid I spent many mornings listening to Paul Harvey and enjoying pecan kringle with my grandmother. She always drove a Rambler:D
We order from O & H around Thanksgiving and Christmas, the local Trader Joe's offers a different one each month. Scott |
