Chassis Engineering spring shackles
 

Now that chassis engineering is no longer in business, i need to some replacement parts for their 35 to 40 ford rear spring kits.

The spring shackles and bushing i believe were mopar? Anyone know what years the shackles were from

Also, replacement shock obsorbers. Mine are starting to show signs of leaking . They were the original shocks to the kit thats 20 years old. The shocks are marked chassis engineering. Anyone know of a replacement part number for ones available at Napa? Our napa is no longer a parts store with knowledgeable counter people, more like a pepboys now

We only have one guy at our NAPA that knows Ford 8n parts and flathead stuff, don't know Ill do when he leaves.

For the rubber bushings have a good local parts store check as they used a common shackle and for the shocks i think the common shielded rear shock made for P&J is the same although CE did sell some adjustable shocks in the beginning?

For the shackles, i need a complete set , bushings and hardware . and the ones on my 40 look like the 1960s mopar sets on ebay.

I would like to ad the info for my notes as a quick reference that way i can avoid confusing the plant life at napa. Now if i need air fresheners car wash soap or a floating remote stereo speak for the pool they got me covered. The speaker is no joke, i just shook my head when i saw it

When I replaced some CE shackles I used Pinto/Bobcat. I recall that I called a CE dealer and he told me that's what they used. Another option is the moly-nylon shackles that are used by TCI in their parallel leaf kits.
As for shocks I measure the ride height and then use some old shock books that I have to look up the mountings and the extended and compressed length. As I recall early VW bus may get you real close. A good Napa store(which I have) should be able to look up the shocks just like I do, as I use an old Napa book and an old Monroe book. Since parts stores get new books frequently you might ask if they will give you one of their old shock books. They are some of the handiest books I have.

Have you tried Energy Suspension Parts? They have a large selection of bushings.

These are the shackles that came with a Chassis Eng spring kit a long time ago.

Never got around to checking; but please post the application if you determine it.

I don't know if this is still an option, but the relatives are selling off the old inventory. They may still be in the process. Give them a call.

from what I've heard the rear springs are '61 dodge van front springs so assume shackles also. 70's ford torino are a pretty close match on the shocks. also heard shocks are early corvette.

Thats the info i had on the springs, but wasnt sure on the shackles because of length.

Good to know about the shock info,

The website has some shackle kits but for early ford front springs.

They updated some info that next they are going to start selling off the cars he had

Those part #s fit mid 60' s to mid 70's Falcon, Comet, Maverick and Pinto. The D1FZ5603A should be D1FZ5630A.

I found some mopar shackles and the difference from the chassis engineering orignals is 1". CE are 2-1/2" center to center and the mopar are 3-1/2" center to center.

Anyone have the measurements of the Pinto shackles mentioned above?

Still havent found a part number for a monroe ect shock thats a direct replacement from NAPA ect.

I did find the chassis engineering shock kit for the rear but no part numbers
