Also, if you look at a spring chart, the LF usually has a higher rating than the RF (to compensate for driver weight). If the RF was an original spring and the replacement LF was a repro without the correct rating, the vehicle can have incorrect trim height (considering frame straightness). |
Re: f-100 leaning to right I agree, I did replace both spring packs ,they both have the same rating ,also the 53/54/55 f-100 trucks have the fuel tank mounted on the drivers side on the frame this would add to the problem , Thinking about taking the drivers side spring pack to a spring shop and having another leaf added of a higher rated main leaf.

If you have a level concrete surface such as garage floor, measure trim height(s) at four corners of frame to floor. This will give you an idea of what the true trim height is (with present springs) (truck and car had different spring ratings according to how equipped or what weight capacity rating the truck was built with). The Service Manual should give directions and specs. Or you could just shim the leaning side to arrive @ proper height if just a driver. Check pins and eye bushings. Let us know... ;) |
Re: f-100 leaning to right The spring may not need another leaf. Have the spring shop reshape the main and second leaf 3/4 inch higher.

Re: f-100 leaning to right Check out the rear cab mounts. My 55 was leaning ,I replaced the rear cab mounts and it straightened out.

Re: f-100 leaning to right cab mounts are ok it is definitely something with the spring.you can see the spring some what compressed on driver side by just looking at it
