1930 fordor bottom gasket install

I have read the posts on this subject here but have not read a detailed instruction on the bottom door seal for a 1930 fordor 170B. Never did this before. I have the "h" seal. how do I hang it and which way does the h go? I assume the h is down but how far below the inside door frame does it hang? If anyone has pictures of a new install that would be a big help to me. The door frame has no provisions for hooks. Just wood and it looks like the old tacks are still there but the old gasket is long gone.

Thanks for any help
Wayne

Just looked at my 1930 170B Deluxe Sedan 4dr, I see no indication of a rubber seal on the bottom of the door? Where did you get the rubber parts?

I got the parts from TAMS in MASS. I know there is something there because I pulled off some old rubber underneath the door panel at the bottom. Looks like I will have to play with it awhile.

Carefully pull the panel away from the door at the bottom. Insert the seal lining up the holes with the prongs on the panel. Reinsert the prongs to the door.

Hi Paul,

I can not see any prongs. Looks like the old panel was tacked in along the bottom. I did pull back the bottom of the panel though. Actually had the old panel off to replace the window channels and did not see any provisions for prongs at the bottom. The gasket is h shaped and it looks like the flat section fits up between the wood and the back side of the door cardboard panel. The h part faces away from the outside of the door and recesses into a space on the lower car frame. Not sure if I made any sense. I believe the h gets squeezed between the car door bottom and the car frame. Does this sound right to you?

I believe the cars with the wood frame in the doors used the tacks . I think they are nailed through the upholstery , back board and then the rubber seal . I used small head nails . Small enough to use a needle to pull the fabric away from the nail head so the head would be conceled. Norm

Norm,

Yes the seal is held in place behind the door panel with small head nails. However, looking at the picture dike36 sent, I do not see an h shaped seal. I wonder if the seal in the picture is the seal I need since what is left of the old seal had no h shape as well. Maybe I should no use the h seal or that one is incorrectly listed for a Fordor? Does anyone have a photo of the h type seal installed?

Thanks Wayne
