Firewall Insulation

Has any one installed the firewall insulation? This one piece of molded insulation is for sale by one of the vendors, but it is rather expensive!

Thanks,

Re: Firewall Insulation

I installed one in my 1929 Special Coupe. It was a little bit of a pain to install but it looks good and works well. It is a toss up whether it is worth the money.

I have it in our tn. sedan. Nice finish but blocks access to j box bolts, and some other firewall poke thru's are a little challenging. Appears to muffle sound a bit but haven't tested that or compared heat gain.

Re: Firewall Insulation

Because we do a lot of touring, I installed one on my ‘29 Town Sedan. Tight fit, not a quickie installation. We noticed a reduction in engine noise and heat. This is especially noticeable when you spend all day in the car at 45-50 mph.

Re: Firewall Insulation

my first post on this forum.just got my 30 coupe this summer, drove it some with shorts and the heat through the firewall was roasting my legs. I installed the insulation kit on the fire wall and the first thing we noticed was how much quieter the engine was.Heat was greatly reduced also.It was a little bit of a project disconnecting everything that passes through firewall and reinstalling.Previous owner had insulated floor and installed muffler heat shield, these two items did nothing for passenger compartment heat compared to insulating firewall. To me something like this that can make you more comfortable will let you enjoy your car more is worth doing.

Re: Firewall Insulation

I have the Quiet Ride "Acoustashield" firewall insulator in my coupe. It perfectly matches the firewall. It has been installed for over ten years. I does a great job keeping the heat out and also quiets the engine noise. It took about 1 1/2 hours to install. I remember it costing a little over $100. I live in 100 degree + summers. I would not want to be without the insulator...

I use the foil covered bubble insulation that Lowes and others sell. Not expensive and works well. Don’t forget the floorboards.
