Problem screwing Distributor wire

Just replaced the Distributor on my Station Wagon Project. All went well until I tried to screw the wire to the side of the distributor. I was using a new wire from the starter switch and noticed I cant screw it more than a few turns. I used another spare distributor and tried to screw a new wire to the side of the spare distributor with the same outcome. I feel 2 or 3 turns are not enough. Any suggestions of what I am doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. 2 or 3 turns are enough.

It is not a pipe connection with pressurized fluid that is going to leak out. In fact, if you screw it in too far, you will short it out inside and you will get no spark.

I did Minervas' ALMOST too tight. When she warmed up, "something" expanded & PFFFT-DEAD! Loosened 1/2 turn & she wuz SMILIN' again.

I do not recommend you screw the wire into the dissy. Instead, hold the wire still and screw the dissy into the plug. You can break the wire inside the housing by turning it..

Thank you all for your great replies. It is always a long time between working with the distributor and we tend to forget. This is why I love this Forum. Have "A" great week!

I was going to reply...

"You have to drink more beer"
or
"Maybe the distributor wire has standards"
or
"You might have a low testosterone level"
or
"It might be in a committed relationship already"

But then I changed my mind.
