International Model A Day

Since today is 'International Model A Day'...How many of us were out on the roads to celebrate with other Model Aers? Here in Arizona our club 'Model A Restorers Club of Arizona' had 21 cars out for breakfast and good fellowship at Berge Ford in Mesa from 8am to 10am. Some cars made round trips of over 50 miles to participate...Ernie:)

Old Dominion had cars at Field Day of the Past. I went yesterday, so I made my Cabriolet my daily driver today. Lots of people asked questions, and appeared to enjoy seeing it at the stores, library, etc.

The San Gabriel Valley Model A Restorers Club, the Santa Anita A's and the Diamond Tread Chapter of MAFCA celebrated the day with a poker run followed by a freshly prepared taco lunch with Klondike bars for dessert. We had 22 model A's and 56 participants. The poker run which started in Arcadia, California took us to Rosemead, Sierra Madre and back to Arcadia.

After a week of REALLY crappy weather, today dawned bright and clear. Tomorrow is going to be wet again so we lucked out. About 20 cars at the home of one of the club members for lunch, a chat and a look at his collection.

On International Model A Day I drove my '31 Pickup from Mt. Whitney Portal Campground to the Bay Area. I met my Dad in his pickup there for a camping trip that just happened to be on Model A Day. The weekend consisted of over 700 miles traveled and a climb of over 9000' on Friday to get to the campground and over the Tioga Pass in Yosemite. Was a great trip with no roadside seminars required, although a cracked block was JB Welded for the ride home in my Dad's truck. (curious to see if he reads this) The picture ifs from the top of the pass, where we stopped for the view, a refreshment, and to give the old girl a break. IMG_0235.JPG
