The perfect turn signal switch?
 

OK I found the brake aware (won't cancel if the brake is on) self cancelling (after a set number of seconds you set) turn signal switch switch I had seen a while ago. It seems to do everything you would want, but is VERY expensive.

Has anyone had any experience with this product and company?

BTW There doesn't seem to be any way to buy the product from their website. I sent them an email. We will have to wait and see what response I get.

I'm sure they take orders over the phone. It is interesting that they don't make it crystal clear how to order.

It is what I have. Used it for several years now and really like it. I used the small momentary switch. I made up a small mounting bracket and tucked the switch up into the left corner of the dash utilizing the far left dash bolt. Only the handle of the switch shows. No one has yet to notice it.
I did have some troubles with it a couple of years after I bought it. I sent it back into them for repairs and they did it for free even though it was well after the warranty had expired.

one of our club members have this system, he told me about it and I ordered one over the phone. I installed in my four door and it work great. I installed one of Snyder`s fancy one in my Victoria maybe ten years ago it was more money and it is not self cancelling. I do like to use Snyder`s wire loom with the turn signal wires right in the loom, it makes a real clean job out of it,

Sounds good. I think I'll order one. You save over a hundred bucks if you go with the small switch. So maybe that is the way I'll go.

there is a beeper on the system but it is hard to hear when driving. I used the small switch, made a little stainless bracket mounted it up under the left side of the dash rail. the bracket hangs down a little and I installed two little LED lights in it.

Speedway motors has a similar device, cheaper price, may be worth checking it out.

I did the same as JW with the two small LED lights. However I mounted mine at the top left corner of my cab. Red for Port, green for starboard.

I have a beeper on my current switch, but IMHO if it is self cancelling, the beeper is not as essential.

yes are the beeper is not necessary if you can hear it, setting still I can hear it just fine driving down the road I can not hear the beeper so I do not know if the lights are blinking, so I added some small LED light next to the switch.

The web page link (see post #1) says that it will work with either LED or incandescent. So, I guess the choice is yours.

Yep, I just finished installing one for a friend, and it's a very nice system with easy to follow instructions and a well labeled brain box. I like it and would also just use the toggle switch.

without a doubt the best system on the market, 12 or 6 volt, complete solid state unit with NO FLASHER to use, and complete inputs for F turn signals, rear, cowl lights, brake lights and is totally independent system ready to go.. 139.00 is the price for the unit with the toggle switch.. In the pic below i have also made a unit that goes UNDER the dash and above the instrument panel to allow you know know when your signal is on.

And the noise of the stock Model A ignition doesn't mess with the electronic circuits inside the brain box. It operates the same with the engine running of off.

Dittos to all the above. Had been thinking of installing turn signals on our '30 coupe for years and this post pushed me over the edge. Can't imagine how many miles I've driven behind Model A's with their turn signals still going after a turn so went with the S&M unit with the auto cancel, not that I would ever be guilty of that!

With the switch hidden behind left side of dash and using the cowl lights for the front you can't tell the car has turn signals without leaning way down and looking at some additional wiring way under the tank. Had one spot on the temp gauge bracket to fit one more LED (the other side has a light for the overdrive engaged) so opted for the one light system to show the turn signal is operating. Using one LED you need to add a diode to each of the two feed wires. Greg at S&M Electro-Tech can coach you through that if you need help.

As mentioned above the beeper is perfect at slow speeds or stopped but not heard at highway speeds. The indicator light lets you know for sure at higher speeds that you did indeed activate the turn signal and that it is still flashing and not timed out. The factory 15 second setting (adjustable if you prefer longer) seems to work perfect for us.

S&M has thought of just about everything in this application. For example if you use the cowl lights for turn signals, the cowl lights still operate as original with the light switch. Only difference is that if you have the cowl lights on and activate the turn signal then the activated side flashes and the other side stays on. The unit has fuses in side the box to protect the electronics. If you happen to blow one of them and render the box inop your original wiring for brakes will still operate. Plus all the items mentioned above.

Really impressed with the design, quality and customer service with this unit. Highly recommend it!

Since it has fuses that might need access I mounted ours with the supplied velcro tape to the bottom of the fuel tank, almost at the firewall, left side. Not noticeable normally unless you look from very low perspective. You could mount it behind the left kick panel but the way the plug comes out of the box it might hold the panel out a little unless you mounted it higher and cut out an opening just big enough to accommodate the plug.
