Little more modern advice to pedal shaft replacement

First of all, Thanks to all the help from this forum. But, even as a new Model A guy, I have to weigh in on the Pedal shaft in the car controversy. I have good mech skills and so do my friends, so I was worried about the in car pedal shaft change attempt after reading some advice here. So wrong, and probably costing folks a lot of labour and time. We simply grabbed the pin with Hemostats, or "clamps" from the medical field, available everywhere now. Your helper taps with hammer and drift and out it comes....

Sounds like a minimally invasive quasi-medical procedure resulting from some outside the box thinking -
Cheers!

Then there was the gynaecologist who assembled an engine through the exhaust pipe!:D

A clearer second picture would help, but it looks like someone previously used the pin from the other end of the shaft to hold the shaft in the housing. I am not sure how well that would work long term, but it did make it easier for you to replace the shaft in the car.

Lucky break for you.

Lucky for sure...I easily spent a frustrating hour getting the pin out of my clutch shaft, from an otherwise bare clutch housing.....and I doubt the new pin I installed will come out easily...

But it would sure be worth trying the easy way first....

How were you able to install the new pin/rivet?

First, grind the pin flush with the casting. spray with Kroil, then drive it out with a strong drift pin and a big hammer.
