Simmons/Wizard Carburetor

Hi,
Does anyone specialize in restoring Wizard side-bowl carburetors?
Thanks.

I would contact Renner's, they overhaul other carbs not just Zenith. Google Renners Conrner!

I restored this one but it was a chore. Joop here on the barn was a big help.

Re: Simmons/Wizard Carburetor

I have yet to take any pictures of it. It is complete other than the choke driver. The tag is nice. It has the two bolts broken off in the top flange and these stubs are rusted in solid. It is currently soaking to make these easier to remove. The carb has been off a vehicle so long there were spider webs in the venturi. I think I would like to run it on my town sedan, so would like to have it professionally fixed with new plating, etc. But since this is a Simmons/Wizard I would prefer someone who has done these before do this one. Thanks.

How does this carburetor compare to the Zenith?

A friend in Las Cruces has one on his 1930 Model A. They were sold by Western Auto and are clones of the Simmons carburetors. http://www.borderlandas.org

I collected a few Simmons carbs years ago and tried to restore them. I got'm set up pretty good, but the throttle shafts were worn to much. I never could find anyone to "weld" (soldier) them up and turn them down. Maybe some day I'll try again.:o

You can contact some garages that specialize in restoring classic cars like Vintage Motor Garage. I also had my repairs done here.

Be careful removing the large bolts on the bottom of the carburetor as one of them is the main jet and is very weak and easy to break. I don't know of any replacement parts for these.
