Dual Cut Out Regulator I am rebuilding a 1936 Phaeton I had in college. It appears that the generator has a dual cut out regulator. Any one know anything about these?

Re: Dual Cut Out Regulator That looks more like the Delco Remy unit like GM used. My old Harley 45 has a 3-brush gen with one like that but it's just a cut out of a different shape. It has a terminal for a warning light if I remember correctly. The big oval shaped ones were dual charge rate type. All a standard 3-brush generator needs is a decent cut out or one of those aftermarket diodes in a cut out can. Fun Products makes a solid state regulator that fits in a cut out can but it's limited on what it works with.

Re: Dual Cut Out Regulator Yep, that looks like a standard Delco or Autolite cut out. The 34 ford type oval shape cut out and regulator in one unit is a little larger than yours and has the extra field terminal underneath the base. They were generally fitted to cars that had radios in 1934 & 1935 and were then discontinued. Yours should have the round Ford cut out with two terminals, one at front for battery power wire and rear terminal for generator wire. It may have an earth or ground wire out of the generator to a base mounting screw of the cut out. Regards, Kevin.
