shipping A part to Europe I need advise on how, by what shipper, packaging, etc to send a Model A Windshield frame to Estonia from Maryland.
I touched base with DHL via phone and got an estimate of well over $400. Anybody have experience in similar area? All inputs welcomed. Thanks, Jim G. |
Re: shipping A part to Europe UPS not cheap, or surface mail by Post Office if not too big
|
Re: shipping A part to Europe USPS is probably the cheapest but it can take 6 to 8 weeks for them to receive it. My postmaster at my PO is a Model A guy and he cuts me a break on the oversize stuff at times.

Re: shipping A part to Europe going to be expensive no matter what-last I heard, USPS only flies mail overseas-no
more boat shipping. since you are by Baltimore- how about the trunk of a car going overseas? that is what a Russian fellow did, when he bought 4 16" rims from me. the shipping to Russia was too expensive. |
Re: shipping A part to Europe That frame should break down to four pieces. That would be cheaper!

Re: shipping A part to Europe Don't

Re: shipping A part to Europe don't? Why not? I ship over seas all the time.
Are you shipping with glass or without? I would ship USPS. If you/they have a Pay-pal account I would invoice them, yes you will have to pay that small fee but you know you have the money and you can print the shipping label and USPS will provide tracking most if not all the way to it's new home. |
Re: shipping A part to Europe I think Glenn means don't knock it down into 4 pieces, and I agree. The top piece can be unscrewed, but the rest is one piece.

Re: shipping A part to Europe Looks like USPS is my next stop. No glass, and, the frame is in only 3 pieces (not counting the hinge which is attached slips on easily). I'd prefer to keep it assembled for safety and avoid any kind of damage. If I'm not careful it looks like this gift could get very expensive.
I'm still open for ideas???? Jim G. |
Re: shipping A part to Europe Maybe call the Estonia embassy in DC and see if they have any suggestions. Their people might send stuff home at their own unreimbursed cost.
